My kids are always excited when they see me preparing my ingredients and baking tools in the kitchen. They knew right away that their mama is up again for another baking challenge!
When I started with baking, my kids are my number one food tasters! I think they’ve loved their job so much they wouldn’t allow anybody to have a taste of my freshly-baked goodies unless they taste them first! And worse, they always get carried away and left nothing on the serving plate, but crumbs. 🙂
Last week, the kids invaded my kitchen! They helped me with my summer project and this is our finished product!
Tadaaaaa! We gave brownies a twist! We served it in cones, filled it with Lemon Square’ s Inipit custard cake in the middle, and topped it with mocha buttercream icing and some candy sprinkles!
What is this “Inipit“cake by the way? “Inipit” or “pressed” in English is basically two sponge cakes with custard filling. It was called as such because the custard filling is pressed by two slices of sponge cake. It was introduced to the public by Salome de Ramos in the 1940s. Now, Lemon Square brings this famous Bulacan delicacy to all parts of the country in six different flavors – Pandan, Ube, Pastillas de Leche, Chocolate, Custard, Queso, and Lemon.
Chocolate Brownies with Inipit Custard Cake Filling in a Cone is a very easy dessert recipe. It turned out yummy and beautiful with the help of my kiddos! It just actually took them a jiffy to devour all the 12 cones!
So if you are looking for party DIY snacks ideas, I suggest you try this out! Your kids will surely fall in love with this dainty sweet treat!
Here’s how to make it:
First, you will need a brownie mixture. I made brownies a day earlier and what you see was just a leftover. You can use your own recipe or you can buy quick brownie mix from grocery or baking supplies.
Next, I cut each cake into four smaller pieces. You can use any Inipit flavors but I picked their Custard flavor to balance the sweetness between the brownies and mocha buttercream frosting.
Then, I put each Inipit cakes inside the cups of my muffin non-stick baking pan. You can use a non-stick spray or shortening for greasing if you’re using regular baking pans.
Then, using an ice cream scoop, I scooped about 1-2tbsps of brownie mixture and poured it over my muffin pan, keeping the Inipit cake in the middle of each cup.
Next, I covered the cake and brownie mixture with regular ice cream wafer cones! Make sure your mixture sticks inside the cones to hold your brownie and cake in place when cooked.
If you don’ t have a muffin pan at home, try this other option (see photo below).
Then, pre-heat oven for 150C for 15-20 mins prior to baking. I baked my Chocolate brownies in a cone for 10-15 mins or until they are set in the center.
While waiting for my brownies to set, I started hand mixing my butter, coffee, vanilla, and confectionery sugar for my Mocha Buttercream Icing. This part is totally optional. Once your brownies are cool, you can serve them or proceed to garnishing right away.
Now, this part was my girls’ favorite part! I pulled out my candy sprinkles and chocolate and caramel syrups and let them decorate all the brownies!
You can use different garnishes like sprinkles, candies, marshmallows, chocolate bars, cookies, etcetera. Food looks more appetizing to kids when they’re colorful, so be bold in experimenting with texture and colors in preparing their meals and snacks!
Let your brownies cool on a rack for 10 minutes before decorating them to avoid kids from burning their hands and fingers when they touch the food.
My girls had a fun time decorating their Chocolate Brownies with Inipit Custard Cake Filling in a Cone! Ang sarap talaga maging kid with Inipit! And for them to enjoy more what they’re doing, I challenged them to produce super creative pieces!
Obviously, there’s #NoLimitWithInipit! My kids exceeded my expectations! They were able to produce colorful and appetizing dessert!
