It’s like Christmas in April when YUMMY Magazine in collaboration with Kitchen Aid treated its loyal readers for a cooking workshop last Saturday held at Enderun Colleges in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
The multi- awarded celebrity chef and cooking TV host, Chef Jackie Ang-Po kicked off the first leg of the 3-part free cooking workshop series.
Using the innovative and user-friendly Kitchen Aid tools and equipment, Chef Jackie was able to create easy and yummy recipes like Grilled Watermelon and Mango Jicama Salad with Mango Vinaigrette, where she made use of the Kitchen Aid food processor to cut thinly and equally the veggies and hand blender to defy the immiscibility of oil, lemon juice, and honey, creating just the right concoction of sweet and tangy mango dressing.
The thick cuts of veal or beef shanks of Chef Jackie’s Osso Buco were made tender yet still intact by simmering meat for 12 hours on low fire or 8 hours on medium using the Kitchen Aid Slow Cooker. The option of using pressure cooker to reduce cooking time is also encouraged; however, this method has a tendency to make meat break apart into fibers when overcooked.
I’m so lucky to have been able to taste Chef Jackie’s version of these gorgeous Pralinat Puffs! The legendary Kitchen Aid stand mixer was used to form the short dough and make the nutty praline filling.
Aren’t they too lovely to be eaten? Nah! They’re in fact too yummy to be resisted! 🙂
After the cooking session, it was the audience turn to shine and cook!
There were 3 teams with 2 members each (1 food blogger and 1 YUMMY avid reader) who were pre-selected to participate in the cook-off contest. The challenge was to create a Parfait using their provided ingredients and Kitchen Aid equipment.
I was even more lucky when I was picked to join the cook-off! I felt excited and tensed at the same time! But it’s all worth it because our Nutty Oreo Parfait won the challenge! We got to take home YUMMY’s recent spread and a Kitchen Aid oven mitten.
Participants also had the chance to win Kitchen Aid merchandises by taking photos at the event and uploading them on Instagram. One lucky guest also got to take home a Kitchen Aid hand Mixer that was raffled off.
The Yummy Magazine and Kitchen Aid Cooking Workshop Series is overall a fantastic event to look forward to! The ambience is lax and people are very friendly. If you are into cooking and looking for free workshop to attend to, there are still 2 remaining workshops set to happen within this year. You can subscribe to YUMMY’s official Facebook fanpage or browse their site for registration and/or updates.
Sharing some of these cool recipes from the workshop for you to try and recreate!
